Queen Conch breeding season in Curaçao has started!
From the end of June to the beginning of September, the Queen Conch, or the well-known Karkó, are actively breeding! The warmer temperatures during the summer months signal the Karkó to actively seek out partners to mate with. Plastic collection drive yields interesting results in Curaçao!

Effective coastal and marine management in the British Virgin Islands with €927,980 RESEMBID grant
The Ministry of Natural Resources, Labour and Immigration of the British Virgin Islands has received a EUR927,980 grant to improve the country’s water quality testing capabilities. Internships, jobs and training in the Cayman Islands made possible by RESEMBID grant
Eight months after signing up to courses in either renewable energy, sustainable construction, information and communications technology (ICT), and tourism and hospitality, formerly unemployed Caymanians are now immersed in internships and job placements in these areas. Led by the University College of the Cayman islands, the project utilises a grant of EUR432,210 to ensure that the 52 participants receive accredited certification, training and valuable sessions with potential employers. Turks and Caicos’ future looks bright with over 100 streetlights!
The Turks and Caicos government is adding over a hundred hurricane resilient streetlights to the country’s roads and communities through its Resilience, Sustainable Energy and Marine Biodiversity Programme (RESEMBID) partnership. Anguilla launches food security project under Resilience portfolio
Today we congratulate Anguilla in launching one of their projects under RESEMBID’s Marine Resilience portfolio, “Piloting Backyard Recirculating Aquaponics Systems in Anguilla”. Climate change education to be introduced to 4 schools in the Cayman Islands
Four schools in the Cayman Islands will soon be taking part in a pilot project to introduce climate-change education to their curricula. The National Trust for the Cayman Islands will lead this important project with the help of a €163,223 RESEMBID grant. Students, teachers and others in Anguilla’s education system will be able to bounce back more quickly from adverse circumstances such as pandemics and hurricanes thanks to this project. Our Pandemic response for 12 OCTs
In response to the global pandemic and the far-reaching implications for the small open economies of the OCTs, the RESEMBID team spontaneously created the Pandemic Resilience Response Facility. It was successfully launched on 5th April 2020. In record time, the Facility earmarked flexibly €10 million specifically to fund pandemic Resilience response actions for all the 12 OCTs.
