Plastic collection drive yields interesting results in Curaçao!

In Curaçao, the RESEMBID - funded project carried out by Green Phenix is aimed at reducing the amount of plastic pollution that ends up in the marine environment. The data collected with the Litterati app showed significant differences between the Leeward and the Windward side beaches of the island. Queen Conch breeding season in Curaçao has started!

The warmer temperatures during the summer months signal the Karkó to actively seek out partners to mate with. Effective coastal and marine management in the British Virgin Islands with €927,980 RESEMBID grant
RESEMBID2023-08-10T11:35:11-07:00The Ministry of Natural Resources, Labour and Immigration of the British Virgin Islands has received a EUR927,980 grant to improve the country’s water quality testing capabilities. Under RESEMBID’s Marine Biodiversity portfolio, the project seeks to address the limitations that exist within the the BVI’s water quality monitoring programme. The project will enhance the Ministry’s capacity to collect, warehouse and analyze water quality data, to inform better environmental management and spatial planning decisions. Internships, jobs and training in the Cayman Islands made possible by RESEMBID grant
RESEMBID2023-08-21T03:18:50-07:00Eight months after signing up to courses in either renewable energy, sustainable construction, information and communications technology (ICT), and tourism and hospitality, formerly unemployed Caymanians are now immersed in internships and job placements in these areas. Led by the University College of the Cayman islands, the project utilises a grant of EUR432,210 to ensure that the 52 participants receive accredited certification, training and valuable sessions with potential employers. Anguilla launches food security project under Resilience portfolio
RESEMBID2023-08-10T11:38:43-07:00Today we congratulate Anguilla in launching one of their projects under RESEMBID’s Marine Resilience portfolio, “Piloting Backyard Recirculating Aquaponics Systems in Anguilla”. This project addresses the need for Anguilla to transform the fisheries and agriculture sectors; reduce dependence on imports; strengthen food safety and security and support healthier, well-balanced diets. Beneficiaries of the project will be able to produce high quality fish and fresh produce to feed themselves, or create a new revenue stream. Congratulations, Anguilla!
Turks and Caicos’ future looks bright with over 100 streetlights!
RESEMBID2023-08-10T11:39:05-07:00The Turks and Caicos government is adding over a hundred hurricane resilient streetlights to the country’s roads and communities through its Resilience, Sustainable Energy and Marine Biodiversity Programme (RESEMBID) partnership. Of the one hundred and forty (140) streetlights, North Caicos will get twenty-five (25); Middle Caicos fifteen (15); South Caicos will get twenty (20); Grand Turk thirty (30); Salt Cay ten (10) and Providenciales will have (40) of the lights installed.
